The vast majority of small business owners believe their company is safe from cybersecurity threats despite the fact that even more don't have any plan in place to deal with such issues.
A total of 77 percent of small business owners and operators nationwide say they don't have to worry about cyber threats of any kind, be they from hackers, viruses, malware or
data breaches, according to a new survey from the security company
Symantec. This attitude comes despite the fact that even more - 83 percent - have no plan in formal cybersecurity plan in place whatsoever.
"We want U.S. small businesses to understand they cannot completely remain safe from cyber threats if they do not take the necessary precautions," said Michael Kaiser, executive director of the National Cyber Security Alliance.
Ondrej Krehel, the chief information security officer for
Identity Theft 911, writes regularly on his official blog about the data security issues small businesses routinely face, including a simple lack of resources to completely safeguard themselves from all the various threats that now exist.
